Hello, I am back. I don’t have any major reasons for being MIA other than general malaise a la Jack Bolling of The Moviegoer, combined with overall un-fun pandemic vibes. While I haven’t shared anything in a little over a year, I have of course typed and deleted multiple posts, very many times. I’ve contemplated topics such as my own take on the Night Luxe Aesthetic (which, to be fair, I will probably publish sometime soon), a list of my favorite coffee shops, and another list of my favorite fragrances - all very predictable and comfortable. I ended up getting overwhelmed because I have too many “faves,” scrapped them all to hell, and started over…

For me, Summer 2017 was shimmering magic, a time that remains incomparable to any other period in my life otherwise defined by “important moments,” like a vacation or major event. These days, I’ve been entertaining myself in true quarantine fashion by pulling out my bags and reminiscing on all the fun times we had together. It sounds sadder than it actually is, I swear, and it’s a lot better than the alternative of shredding my mind into internet oblivion on a constant basis….a cycle of toxicity! Anyone still with me?

There really isn’t much more to say at this point about how completely awful and shitshow-y 2020 was as a whole, so I would rather start with how incredibly grateful I am to have had a home, work, good health, and caring family and friends through it. Of course, I can’t forget about all the stuff that got me through 2020, which I know is also the primary reason you are on this page.

HBO’s The Undoing premiered in late October 2020. It was easily my most anticipated show of the year not just because I am obsessed with Nicole Kidman and anything she’s in, but also because it hit every requirement on my Ideal Show Checklist - a 1) thriller (thrilling!), 2) set in NYC (comfort for an NYC resident), and 3) done in very good style (think: Succession). I miss it, and my Sunday night anticipation of it, every. damn. day.

There are worse ways to start a first blog post - I could have gone the whole “here I am, ready to CaRpE DiEm!” route, laid out a life-changing moment from this tumultuous past year that led me to here, and tied it up with a neat bow screaming “I FOUND MYSELF!” but that’s not really my style.

And style, to be honest, is everything.
